How it’s calculated
A standard card is 63.5 × 88.9 mm. In a single sleeve it takes up about 66 × 91 mm, and double-sleeved about 67 × 92 mm. Each card adds 0.305 mm to the stack unsleeved, 0.60 mm single-sleeved and 0.70 mm double-sleeved.
Inside, the box adds the fit’s play to the width and the height (1.5 mm for snug, 4 mm for easy) and 1 mm to the depth of the stack. Outside, it adds a 2.4 mm wall on every side, a 2 mm floor and a 2 mm lid top.
Where the numbers come from
The card size is the Magic: The Gathering spec, 63.5 × 88.9 mm. Pokémon, Lorcana, Flesh and Blood and One Piece cards are the same size or up to about 1 mm smaller, so a box sized for Magic fits them too.
Sleeve makers publish how thick their sleeves are. Inner sleeves are 50–60 µm and outer sleeves 90–120 µm. Add a common pair, such as KMC Perfect Fit inside KMC Hyper Mat, or Dragon Shield Perfect Fit inside Dragon Shield Matte, and a card comes to about 0.65–0.67 mm. So 100 double-sleeved cards stack to about 65–67 mm. Players who have measured real decks with calipers report the same.
The calculator allows 0.70 mm per card, a little more, because freshly sleeved cards trap air.
